“This had better be good” Midna replied bitterly. The assistant led her down the stairs and into the throne room. “ I do need my me time you know?” She had almost returned to her normal attitude; that is the attitude that she had before Link saved her life the first time. Her heart gave a little flutter when she thought of Link. Why couldn’t she tell him? They continued to walk down the seemingly endless staircase. With each step, Midna became more and more venomous.

Why can’t the Twilitians try to figure out their own problems sometimes? Even a princess needs some down time. She thought to herself. Finally they had reached the throne room. Standing in the center was a large figure wearing a brown peasant cloak. They were hunched over, shielding their face from anyone’s un-wanting stare. Their back was facing the stairway

“Princess Midna.” The lackey announced as Midna stepped into the room. She rolled her eyes. Why did they always have to announce herself to the public as if no one knew who she was? She resisted the urge to smack him. Instead, she gave him a stare that would’ve blown up cities, in the nuclear bomb sense. His face went pale and nervously he cleared his throat, sensing her irratation.

The figure spun around to face the princess.

“Oh, I thought you wouldn’t come. You know, being a princess is very challenging.” The voice sounded deep and husky, like a mans and somewhat familiar. The man’s face was still shielded from her view so she couldn’t quite tell who he was. She moved her head to try to see his face, but he just hug his head even lower. Was it her imagination or was he purposefully trying to hide his identity?

Getting impatient already with this man, Midna crossed her arms and sighed. “What do you want?” She asked in a bored tone.

“I have a problem at my house that I want you to see and possibly fix.” The man started to walk out the door. Sighing even heavier, she set off in the same direction as the man. “Oh, and I would like it if your assistant wouldn’t come.” He called over his shoulder. His cloak cleared away a little so Midna could see his face pulled into a smirk. What was his deal?

“Very well.” She turned and dismissed her slave with a flick of her hand. “There happy now?” The stranger nodded and continued on his way, with Midna following at his heels. They traveled into the farmer lands, continuing down a slithering path, heading towards a secluded part where no houses existed. Midna began to feel a little uncomfortable.

“Um, excuse me but where are we going.” She hoped that he couldn’t sense the urgency in her voice. Sweat began to form on her brow as the two began to walk into the forest. The birds she spotted before were flying overhead.

The man chuckled. “Why are you so nervous princess?” He practically spat the word “princess” out of his mouth. He began to laugh manically, his shoulders shaking madly. Now Midna was incredibly confused.

“What is your problem?” She was no longer scared, just confused. This man was clearly off his rocker.

“You are my dear.” He stopped laughing and faced Midna. “You and that pathetic little skirt wearing boyfriend of yours. Why if it weren’t for you two, this world would be under better guidance. Instead of caring for these people, you are self absorbed, caring only about yourself. I heard you talking to your servant. You don’t care about the people at all.” His voice began to become more and more agitated as he spoke.

“Who the hell are you?” She was getting incredibly irritated, balling her fists at her side, her hair on her neck rising. Who was this man to tell her off?! Her fangs began to surface and a low growl escaped her lips.

The man chuckled bitterly. Slowly, the man raised his arms, about ready to take off the hood concealing his face. Instead of revealing himself however, in between his hands appeared a sword made of red electric energy. He grasped it and lunged toward her in one swift motion. Startled by his sudden attack, she created a ball of twilight energy and flung it at her attacker, trying to slow him down. It was too late however. The man was upon her and swung his sword. It hit Midna, but not in the spot he wanted. Instead of decapitating her, he grazed her cheek. The hood was impacting his sight, making it difficult to see. It was a deep cut however. It caused Midna to fall to the ground on the impact. Seeing this as a chance, he raised his sword ready to finish her, but the ball of energy Midna had created had exploded into red daggers and shot from every direction. One landed on his arm, plunging in deep. He screamed out in pain upon the impact.

Midna was outraged by how this peasant was treating her. She turned her head to face the man. The hood he wore was off and she was able to see his face. Her eyes widened in horror.

“But… how?” She started to back away from his familiar crazy face. His yellow eyes… the black eye markings… the red making on the middle of his forehead. “I killed you…” She said in a near whisper.

Zant looked up at her, his yellow eyes boring into her red ones. “Ganon revived me just before he bit the dust. He couldn’t kill you… only someone from the twilight or the light from the other realm can kill our kind. I intend to kill you then use your life energy to revive him. Together, we will rule both realms!” He smacked Midna’s face with the back of his hand.

Now she was pissed! It almost seemed as though the world around her sensed her anger. Suddenly the sky was covered with black clouds that were certainly not there a minute ago. Immediately it began to pour. The trees surrounding Midna seemed to shudder. The wind picked up to a roar rather than a whisper. Her hair whipped all over her face, the hood from her cloak fell off, her crown hitting the ground. She looked menacing, and ready to kick Zant’s ass. However, he was unpurturbed by the sudden change in weather. Without even moving anything, the trees uprooted themselves and headed for Midna. She cowered waiting for the impact but it never came. A bolt of lightning came from the sky and struck the tree. It disintegrated, never reaching its target. They both stared at where the tree disappeared.

How did that happen? What was going on? Questions raced through Midna’s mind.

“So, the old legends are true…” He looked at her with hunger in his eyes. He grinned maliciously and attacked her while she was stunned. Using his magic, he created multiple copies of himself and attacked from multiple angles. Midna was so stunned she couldn’t fight back.

Soon she laid broken on the ground, scars covering her body. Tears itched at the back of eyes. Zant laughed triumphantly. He was ready to finish this one sided battle. A sound came from behind him. He turned around to see who was there, but there was nothing. He turned back towards Midna, only to discover she was gone. A portal loomed over head.
